Our Projects

Supporting two vital projects that transform the lives of vulnerable children in Odisha, India

PUSS — Palli Unnayan Seva Samiti

PUSS is more than a school and hostel — it is a holistic, life-changing ecosystem for girls from disadvantaged and tribal communities across Odisha. Under the steady leadership of Kuku Patra and her team, PUSS provides not only academic education, but physical wellness, vocational training, and pathways to sustainable livelihoods.

From primary through senior secondary levels, the curriculum includes English, mathematics, science, and social studies — alongside arts, dance, theatre, crafts, environmental awareness, and computer literacy. All girls receive regular medical checkups, immunizations, dental and eye care, and awareness programs on hygiene and menstrual health.

PUSS runs vocational training programmes in sewing, tailoring, handicrafts, and computer applications. These classes are integrated into their schooling schedule with certified instructors. The project also supports income-generation programmes — cooperative handicraft production and micro-enterprises — reinforcing that education should lead to financial autonomy.

Over 270 girls are currently in residence, many the first in their families to complete higher secondary school. Alumni now work in education, health, social work, and local NGOs. PUSS is not simply a school — it's a cradle of transformation where girls gain knowledge, health, skills, and the confidence to build a better future.

SOCH — Society for Children

SOCH works to rescue vulnerable children living on railway platforms and streets in and around Bhubaneswar. These children face daily dangers including exploitation, abuse, and trafficking. SOCH provides immediate safety and long-term rehabilitation through a comprehensive, child-centered approach.

The organization operates rescue teams that patrol railway stations and street corners, identifying at-risk children. Once rescued, children receive shelter, nutritious meals, medical care, and psychological counseling. SOCH provides both formal education for younger children and vocational training for adolescents in trades like carpentry, tailoring, and computer skills.

Where possible, SOCH works to reunite children with their families in safe circumstances, conducting thorough family assessments and providing support to ensure successful reintegration. For children who cannot return home, SOCH offers long-term care and helps transition them into independent living with job placement support.

SOCH has rescued and rehabilitated hundreds of children over the years. Many alumni now work as teachers, skilled tradespeople, and community workers, breaking the cycle of poverty and vulnerability that once threatened their lives.
